Character appearance- Riku

Character age- Roughly 15 by the end of the anime, currently 16 17

Character history- Riku Harada is the older twin sister of Risa Harada. When she and Risa were children they were given a stuffed bear and rabbit respectively by their grandmother, which they cherished. During an accident, Riku lost her bear over a fence and even though it seemed like she wouldn't get it back, a boy they had met earlier that day jumped over the fence and retrieved the bear for him. Riku later realized that the boy was none other than Daisuke Niwa.

Riku's first encounter with Dark was when he had to land on her balcony to hide. To keep her quiet, he kissed her on the lips. When Dark pulled away from her, she could have sworn she saw Daisuke staring back at her, which troubled her. She wondered what the Phantom Thief Dark would want with her and why she saw Daisuke's face when looking at him and was very surprised when Risa told her that she had fallen in love with Dark. Having trouble sleeping because of these thoughts, she went to go talk to Risa, but didn't find her in her room. Figuring she was up in the attic reading tarot cards, Riku headed up there and was confronted by Risa. Risa asked her if what the cards had said was true that Riku had kissed someone recently, but Riku denied it. Getting frustrated with Risa going on about her and Dark, Riku headed back to bed without saying what she was going to originally.

The next day, Riku was running late to class and ran into Daisuke in the halls. She accidentally pushed him away and sent him into a wall, knocking him unconscious. Feeling bad, she wanted to stay with him in the nurse's office, but Risa insisted that she would, causing Riku to head back to class. Unfortunately, she was still plagued with thoughts about Daisuke, distracting her from focusing in class and going as far as absentmindedly writing his name on her notebook, thought she quickly erased it in embarrassment.

After Risa came home that night looking like she had just been on a date, Riku confronted Daisuke about the next day after school, asking him why he hadn't protected Risa from Dark and if he was Dark. Without giving her any answers, Daisuke ran out of the room, leaving Riku standing there confused. That night, Riku told Risa to give up on Dark and ended up heading to her room when Risa continued to go on about Dark. A strange unicorn appeared in her room and caused her to fall unconscious before disappearing with her. Worried about her sister's disappearance, Risa called Daisuke about it. Shortly after, Risa herself was taken too. Both twins ended up trapped inside an enchanted painting by the unicorn, but were eventually freed by Dark. Riku, however, was left to get home on her own when Dark left with Risa.

While she was doing after school practice, Riku saw Daisuke helping Satoshi Hiwatari carrying things to the storage room. Risa came and found her soon after, asking her if she had seen Daisuke because his bag was left in class. Riku remembered seeing him and Satoshi, so the two agreed to go look for them. Hearing a crash coming from the gym, Riku remembered that one of the bins Daisuke was carrying said "Storage Room", so they headed there. Finding it locked, Riku told Risa to go get a teacher. Once they finally got inside, Daisuke and Satoshi were found unconscious.

Using the fact that they were twins to her advantage, Risa managed to talk Riku into taking her place for her after and Daisuke were told they had to cut cabbages. Grudgingly, Riku agreed to do it. While she cut the cabbage perfectly, Daisuke did not, causing Riku to get annoyed. Eventually, they managed to finish, though Daisuke was no longer Daisuke but rather With in disguise. The teacher complimented her apron as did "Daisuke", but Riku couldn't figure out if "Daisuke" meant the apron or her. So that night, she decided to go through her closet but when Risa came in, Riku said she was only considering giving the dress to her. They both then agreed never to switch places again.

Several days later, Riku ran into Daisuke at the fountain while he was sketching and asked him to come with her to the pet store, asking if the rabbit in the window was like With, whom Daisuke had described earlier. As they were admiring the rabbit, With popped his head out of Daisuke's bag but Riku didn't get to see much of him as Daisuke shoved him back into the bag and ran off. Riku soon figured out that With had fallen in love with the rabbit in the window and planned to buy her to cheer With up, but the rabbit and been sold before she could. Worried about With who had disappeared, Riku and Daisuke went looking for him. Eventually, they found him on top of a windmill. After Daisuke caught With from his fall, Riku was thoroughly impressed with his courage and bravery and praised him about it. As he left, Daisuke thanked Riku for helping and told her he'd call her later.

After a while, Riku began to get annoyed by Daisuke calling both her and Risa "Harada-san". When Mio Hio transferred into their class, Riku didn't mind her at first but became quickly annoyed by how freely Mio acted, especially when it came to Daisuke. Riku became a little flustered when Mio asked her if she was in love with Daisuke but she quickly denied it.

During summer vacation, Riku and Risa were going to go to a villa, but on their wait there, the car broke down in front of Daisuke's house. Both girls were surprised to learn it was Daisuke's house and Mio soon joined the group. Chaos soon ensued because Daisuke's mother Emiko had forgotten to disarm all the traps before leaving to go shopping. After Emiko returned, the twins stayed for a barbeque.

It was during the class trip to the beach that Riku started to come to the realization that she had fallen love with Daisuke. However, thinking he still liked Risa, she wasn't sure what to do. Mio then gave her a set of pendants, telling Riku that if she wore one and the person she liked wore the other, their love would bloom. Riku didn't believe it, but was forced to take them anyway. While on a hike with Daisuke, Riku fell and sprained her ankle. Daisuke carried her back up on his back, causing her to get flustered. Once they were at the top again, Riku finally asked him to stop calling her "Harada-san", saying she couldn't figure out who he was talking about when he did. As lightning from the incoming storm struck, Riku clung to Daisuke in fear. After meeting back up with Risa, the group returned to the hotel and got Riku's ankle looked at.

That night, Riku went up to her and Risa's room to take some medicine to Risa and doubled back to get binoculars for the meteor shower. When she walked in, she found Daisuke on top of Risa, not realizing they had only slipped and fell. Hurt and crushed, Riku ran out of the room while Daisuke followed after her, making it to the beach before falling. Daisuke tried to explain what happened, but she asked why he was bothering since he liked Risa and told him to leave her alone. Silence passed between the two before Daisuke told her that he no longer liked Risa, but instead he liked Riku, surprising her. He even started calling her by her own name, which made Riku happy. She then found the courage to ask him to stargaze with her.

For the upcoming school festival, the boys in Riku's class were to perform the play "Ice and Snow", with Daisuke and Satoshi as the lead roles. During the first practice session, Riku couldn't help but giggle at Daisuke's less than perfect performance. While searching for Daisuke at Saehara's request the next day, Riku found him in front of the finished painting he had been working on for the festival. She loved it so much that she asked him if she could hold onto it for him until the festival, which Daisuke consented to. Riku then considered giving him the pendant she had gotten from Mio, but was interrupted by Satoshi who came looking for them.

That night, Daisuke came over to her house because he couldn't get a hold of her on the phone due to Risa talking on a Psychic hotline. While in the backyard looking at the stars, Riku finally found the courage to give Daisuke the pendant. As he joined his with hers, there was a strange light and afterwards, neither Riku nor Daisuke remembered what they had been doing beforehand.

After learning that Daisuke stayed home due to a cold the next day, Riku went over to visit him. That night, as she was staring at Daisuke's painting, for a brief second, she saw Daisuke in it due to him being taken by "The Second Hand of Time" but passed it off as a trick of her mind. She soon fell asleep but was woken up when Dark snuck into her room to take Daisuke's painting, which was essential in rescuing Daisuke. Riku tried to get it back from him, telling him it was painted by the person who was most important to her. Hearing the commotion, Risa came into Riku's room and tried to help her get it back. During the struggle, the painting started to glow and Dark said told Riku that her most important person was currently in danger before the three of them were sucked into the painting.

To save them from falling on to the ground, Dark flew them down, holding onto the twins much to Riku's chagrin. Unfortunately, Dark accidentally dropped Riku and she fell to the ground. Riku fell through a tree and was caught by Risa who was held up by Dark who had grabbed onto a branch which ended up snapping from the weight. After getting into a squabble with Dark, Riku quickly realized they were inside Daisuke's painting and they were soon surrounded by soldiers. Dark gave up without a fight and he and the twins were captured, pissing Riku off. As she yelled at him, he easily got out of his handcuffs and explained that it was easier to get caught because they're current location was where they needed to end up in the end. He then left to go try and save Daisuke, leaving Riku and Risa behind in the cell still handcuffed. While Riku didn't believe he'd come back like he said he would, Risa told her to have faith in him like she did. Soon after this discussion, Daisuke opened the door to the cell and freed them. Riku was impressed by his skills, but she and Risa were still unsure whether everything was a dream or not. When Daisuke started drawing her room on the floor to transport them back, Riku freaked out, wondering just how Daisuke knew how it looked. As they were getting ready to head back, Daisuke announced that he'd be staying a little longer, though Riku pleaded for him not to. Despite her pleas, they returned without Daisuke.

Waking up the next morning, Riku thought for sure it had all been a dream, but when Risa revealed the ribbon from her pajamas, that she had used to bandage Dark's arm, was missing, she realized it had all happened and stated that she would wait for Daisuke to return. Risa suggested that they ask Dark to help them rescue Daisuke and pointed at that both had the same intensity in their eyes, something Riku didn't exactly want to accept so she said she was just going to wait for him to come back like he said he would. After school, Riku and Risa decided to head to Daisuke's house as fast as they could. Seeing Dark along the way, they made the decision to follow him. Looking in through a window of the tower, both Riku and Risa witnessed Satoshi transform into Krad. When Risa tried to stop Dark and Krad from fighting and Krad tried to hurt her, Riku quickly jumped in the way to protect her while glaring at Krad, who let Risa go. Krad said he hated Riku's eyes and stepped towards, turning his powers on her while raising the sword in his hand to kill her. Before he could though, Dark pulled Riku out of the way and took her to safety. When she came to, she found Daisuke sitting against a tree silently crying. When she went over to him, he pulled her into a hug and asked her not to look at his face at that moment, saying he'd smile again soon. She later returned home after it had started snowing inexplicably.

During winter break, strange things started happening due to the Black Wings being released. Phone and television signals are getting messed up, the tide was very low, and an earthquake hit. Because of these happenings, the city was forced to evacuate. Riku, not having heard from Daisuke since before winter break, was worried about seeing him again. She then caught sight of him riding his bike past the line up of cars trying to evacuate and hopped out of the car to follow him, calling his name. They headed to the fountain and Daisuke asked her if she'd spend tomorrow, Christmas Eve, with him and she promised she would. Suddenly, another earthquake started, bigger than the earlier one. While trying to escape, the ground they were on separated and Riku started to fall. Daisuke caught her and somehow sprouted wings to fly hear safety after promising to protect her. Mid flight, Daisuke changed into Dark. When they landed on the ground, Risa found her and gave her a slap on the cheek for running off but hugged her after she did.

Mio, who had sealed herself in Riku's pendant, appeared before Riku and Risa and asked them to lend her their power so she could help Daisuke and Dark. After Mio was done, she thanked the twins for helping her and told them she was glad to have met them. She also asked them to thank Daisuke for her. Before disappearing completely, she told Riku that she and Daisuke were an "uber cute couple" with a smile. Riku and Risa then ran to find Daisuke and Satoshi. Upon finding them, Riku told Daisuke "I found you" with a smile and hugged him. After a few seconds of embrace, the two finally kissed.

Character personality- Compared to her twin sister Risa, Riku is a tomboy. She is more serious and down-to-earth than her sister and also more outspoken. Riku is also very athletic and intelligent. Despite this, Riku can be shy and, according to Risa, doesn't realize just how popular she is with boys. Though she and her sister are different when it comes to personality, Riku is protective of Risa and shares a tight bond with her.

Digimon personality- Patamon reminds Riku of Daisuke. He's clumsy and easily flustered. Patamon is very friendly and kind, not liking conflict. However, he does have a serious side and will make it a priority to protect Riku if she was in danger. He will also offer and ear and any comfort if something is bothering her. Towards others, Patamon is welcoming and friendly, but if the person proves them self to be untrustworthy, Patamon shows distrust towards them.
